The meaning behind the poem "Don't go gentle into that good night" I think is not give up and don't let the pain get to you " rage, rage against the dying of the light." When times get to be troubling just fight through it and don't let the worst get to you and bring you down. The poem reminds me of my hockey career I wound get hert cause like I'm not the biggest guy out there so I'd get hert often, but in the same game id come back in the third period and "rage, rage against" the pain.
DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
I like how your personal connection to the poem uses a direct quotation. I would like to see more analysis in terms of what you think the poem means or how the language creates meaning in the poem. Don't forget to edit: there is a spellcheck option to use before you post or you could type your work in a word processor and paste it in if that works better for you.
