In the zone

Were in the zone,
Competition none in a league of our own,
When the games over;
We will be the kings of the thrown.

Were in the zone,
A force of our own,
Tell me who can stop us,
Because in the end we will be the Kings of the thrown.

Entry: 3 Imagery Response from "Charge of the Light Brigade"

The image I chose is:
"Cannons to the right of them,
Cannons to the left of them,
Cannons behind them,
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,"

The picture is what i chose which best portrays Imagery In the quotation from the poem "The Charge of The Light Brigade"

Entry 5: Media Portrayal of Soldiers and the Nature of War Response:

In the poem "The charge of the light brigade" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson the topic of war is treated in i feel intense clarity because in the poem they say in the opining stanza " Half a league onward, all in the valley of death Rode the six hundred." in this quotation they are saying that six hundred soldiers rise into the valley of death which i assume is an area of intense battles and deaths, won or lost. Also with the use of repetition in the poem like the saying " Cannon to the right of them, cannon to the left of them, cannon behind them," I feel that its saying that in war you cant run from war it will always be around.

In other words I feel that the media portrays soldiers and the nature of war as a good thing, the media portrays that if you join the army you will become a hero and help save the word; But what they dont say in the media is that war is bloody, and gory. Yes your helping your country, but killing other people in the process people that are doing the same for there country people that have family's just like you do.

"WHERE I'M FROM"

I am from chips, from Lays, and Doritos
I am from the first chip that is savored.
I am from the potatoes, and the oil
I am from the late night movie nights, and being together,
From mom, dad, Joe, and Harry, and Parsons
I am from the little bit of chip that falls but is not forgotten
From the ways that you should treat people the way you want to be treated
I am from farm, from potatoes, and wheat
From the place where my friend fell out of a tree
From the time I put my brother in a suitcase and pushed him down the stairs
I am from home.

Entry 1: The Meaning Behind "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night"

The meaning behind the poem "Don't go gentle into that good night" I think is not give up and don't let the pain get to you " rage, rage against the dying of the light." When times get to be troubling just fight through it and don't let the worst get to you and bring you down. The poem reminds me of my hockey career I wound get hert cause like I'm not the biggest guy out there so I'd get hert often, but in the same game id come back in the third period and "rage, rage against" the pain.

DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Blog Assignment: Response to "The Raven"

Why do you suppose Poe's narrative poem, "The Raven", has stood the test of time? What do people find so frighting about this poem 166 years after it was first published?

I feel that the poem "the Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe has stood the test of time because I feel that the poem creates a vary suspenseful and creepy mood to the poem, the situation in the poem isn't that scary; but from the way Poe writes his word, the poem just flows in a weird way that makes it suspenseful. In my opinion creepy and suspenseful is good for a poem it makes you want to keep reading. It also has a story to it which makes it more  interesting then a description poem.
The poem has stood the test of time because I feel the poem is a good learning tool for people who are just starting to write poems. The stanzas in the poem i think have good repetition with its rimes that help the poem flow. The poems stanzas are set up 1-2-3-2-2-2, so the poem could be used or was used for an example for the pattern of its stanzas.

Therefore the poem "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe is a poem in my opinion with a scary, creepy, and suspenseful mood that catches the reader to keep reading. As well the poem is a create tool for teachers or students for teaching and learning.
